The siblings of Paul Weeks, the Kiwi missing on Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, say their brother left his wedding ring and watch at home "in case something happened."
The plane disappeared on March 8 en route to Beijing with 239 people aboard and theories about what happened to the plane are rife.
But still, Paul Weeks' family remain hopeful.
"We hope and pray that he will come home, we hope that for everyone with family members on the plane, and should a miracle be required then that's what we are hoping for," says Paul's sister Sara Weeks.
In an interview with CNN, Paul's sister Sara and his brother Peter Weeks spoke of Paul leaving his wedding ring and watch at home.
"And for some reason before he left to go to Mongolia he decided to leave them both behind," Sara says.
Paul had told his wife Danica that his wedding ring was to their first child to marry and his watch to the other.
Peter Weeks has described the situation as all-consuming and that, "You spend 24 hours day thinking about it, really - every waking moment and even in the few moments of sleep."
The family say they have been receiving emails from Malaysia Airlines on a regular basis but it's nothing that isn't already covered by media.
"The information that we get is no better than what is in the media in effect it's the same speculation that you see all over the internet all over the television of the various theories," says Peter.
Malaysian authorities have said the evidence so far suggests the flight was deliberately turned back across Malaysia to the Strait of Malacca, with its communications systems disabled.
"Paul is an incredible man, he was without a doubt my - well still is I'm hoping, my best friend. We are all hoping he comes back."
